Chris Mangum

About Chris

Chris Mangum is a seasoned leader and entrepreneur with extensive experience in strategy, business development, M&A, innovation and entrepreneurship across a broad range of business models.

Full Bio

From 2007 to 2012, Mangum led corporate strategy and business development for CenturyLink where he was part of a leadership team that grew the rural telecom’s market capitalization from $2.5 billion to over $25 billion. While at CenturyLink, he led the development of the company’s growth strategy, championed the firm’s move into the data hosting / cloud space with the $3.2 billion acquisition of Savvis, and incubated highly profitable new revenue streams that represented the future of the business. Prior to CenturyLink, Mangum led an entrepreneurial advisory firm that he co-founded in Atlanta called Venture X Group. At VXG, Mangum helped to launch over 100 entrepreneurial businesses representing investments of over $150 million. Successes include SecureWorks (sold to Dell in 2011 for $650 million), (Jeff Bezos portfolio company) and AirBand (nation’s largest B2B wireless broadband provider). Prior to VXG, Mangum led a strategic development team for BellSouth, partnering with such early mobile data pioneers as General Magic, Palm, Compaq and QuickSilver. Prior to BellSouth, Mangum was a military intelligence officer in the US Army. Mangum earned his BA in Psychology from Rhodes College (emphasis in economic behavior and organizational design), and his JD/MBA from Emory University.

Ron Lau has over 18 years of entrepreneurship, professional advisory services and corporate experience across a broad set of industries.

Since co-founding Venture X Group in 1998, Ron has been an active principal helping to launch over 100 entrepreneurial businesses representing investments of over $150 million. Successes include SecureWorks (sold to Dell in 2011 for $650 million), (Jeff Bezos portfolio company), GuardedNet (acquired by IBM) and AirBand (nation’s largest B2B wireless broadband provider). From 2007-2009, Ron also served as VP Strategic Development and General Counsel of Recordant, a venture-backed startup developing hardware and software to bring call center technology into the face-to-face retail environment. Prior to VXG, Ron served in multiple roles at BellSouth. He was Area Manager for one of BellSouth Entertainment’s largest markets, responsible for the general management of four terrestrial cable franchises as well as a wireless video distribution system. Prior to this operational role, Ron successfully acquired wireless spectrum at auction to support the wireless video distribution strategy. Prior to BellSouth, Ron was a member of Ernst & Young’s financial advisory services group, supporting clients in over 30 M&A transactions spanning healthcare, food production, textiles, latex manufacturing and biomedicine. Ron has a BS in Finance from the University of Connecticut and a JD/MBA from Emory University. He is a member of the Georgia Bar.

Eric Hedlund is responsible for all Sales efforts for Servato’s products and services. Eric has more than 25 years of experience in sales, marketing and product development in both telecom and technology-driven markets.

Prior to joining Servato, Eric was the Vice President of Carrier Sales for Encell Technologies, where he drove sales and channel development activities for Encell’s Battery Management Platform (Sentinel). Prior to Encell, Eric served as VP of Marketing and Product Management at Sagamore Systems, a venture-backed telecom solutions company. Prior to Sagamore Systems, Eric was Director of Technical Marketing at Turnstone Systems, a venture-backed company, where he was instrumental in growing revenues to over $200M in 3 years and supporting a successful IPO in 2000. Prior to Turnstone, Eric served in a variety of product management, architecture and engineering roles at Inrange Technologies and GTE Government Systems. Mr. Hedlund holds a BS in Computer Sciences from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and a MS in Engineering Management from Northeastern University.

Steve Mulawski has over 30 years of hardware development experience in the areas of communications circuit and system design and power conversion design.

Full Bio

Prior to joining Servato, Steve was Chief Engineer for Encell Technologies where he was responsible for the design of Encell’s Battery Management Platform (Sentinel) hardware. Prior to joining Encell, Steve was Principal Engineer for Auriga Microwave where he developed high-power pulse amplifiers and earned patents for VHF Envelope Tracking power conversion and RF power switching and control. Prior to Auriga, Steve was Principal Hardware Architect at Quantum Bridge Communications where he defined the ONT and OLT platform architectures for the communication platform now known as Verizon FiOS. Steve currently holds 6 patents. He has a BS in Physics from Fitchburg State.

Dorion Carr has over 23 years of software engineering and support experience in telecommunications and data networking industries.

Prior to joining Servato, Dorion was Chief Architect (Software) for Encell Technologies, where he oversaw all software development and support activities for Encell’s Battery Management Platform (Sentinel). Prior to Encell, Dorion was Chief Architect at Sagamore Systems, where he oversaw all software development and support activities for Sagamore’s automated copper cross connect switch for the telecom carrier market. Prior to Sagamore, Dorion was lead architect for Metrobility Optical Systems’ Network Management platform (used to manage Ethernet optical access products. Dorion holds several patents in telecom and data networking. He earned his BS in Computer Science from Daniel Webster College.

Alex Rawitz joined Servato in 2015 with years of sales, operations, and project management experience.

Full Bio

Alex covers the Southeast sales territory for Servato while also spearheading business development, marketing, and other operational efforts. Prior to joining Servato, Alex managed entrepreneur programs at The Idea Village including the non-profit’s flagship accelerator programs, where he worked directly with over 100 entrepreneurs across a broad array of industries and alongside a dozen eminent New Orleans business leaders who were Entrepreneurs-in-Residence. Before joining The Idea Village, Alex was selected as one of 68 Venture for America fellows, an elite non-profit program that places college graduates at startups in emerging cities, helping build businesses, create jobs, and make an impact. Alex holds a BA in History from Cornell University.
